								Analyst Programmer 

SPECIFIC DELIVERABLES, DUTIES & ACTIVITIES

The outputs produced by the Analyst Programmer are divided into a number of categories, as described below.  Specific activities, duties and deliverables include but are not limited to the following:

PLANNING / TASK MANAGEMENT

	Creation and maintenance of Software Development Plans (SDP). 

	Maintenance of task details in RMS - i.e. when actioning a task that does not require an SDP.

	Maintenance of defect details in the Defect Management System (Quality Centre) - i.e. when actioning defects assigned to an RMS task.

	Review of Software Development Plans.

SUPPORT CALL INVESTIGATION

	Management of customer support calls, including:

	Managing multiple calls simultaneously,

	Maintaining support call details (in RMS), 

	Creating defects in the Defect Management System (Quality Centre), 

	Providing support call resolution details to RD support and client.

	Investigation of customer support calls.

REQUIREMENTS

	Review of Software User Requirements (SUR) and Software Change Requests (SCR) documents.

DESIGN

	Design analysis and investigation.

	Participation in design meetings.

	Preparation of Software Design Description (SDD) documents.

	Review Software Design Descriptions. 

CODING

	Preparation of user interface surfaces.

	Preparation of source code (i.e. foundation / database layer / logic layer).

	Preparation of database scripts.

	Adhere to development standards – user interface standards / coding standards.

	Undertake source code review and provide peer feedback.

	Action software build / release package process.

DEVELOPMENT TESTING

	Creation and maintenance of Unit Test Cases (rework).

	Review of Test Scripts and provision of feedback to Quality Assurance team (new work).

	Execute Unit Test Cases (rework) / Test Scripts (new work).

	Review of Unit Test Cases (rework).

DOCUMENTATION

	Update Foundation Guides / Standards and Procedures / Process Guidelines.

	Update User Guides.

	Prepare Configuration Guides updates / Deployment Notes.

	Prepare Release Notes.

QUALITY ASSURANCE / SYSTEM TESTING

	Execute Unit Test Cases (rework testing) / Test Scripts (new work testing).

	Raise defects in Defect Management System (Quality Centre).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or equivalent.
 At least 2 years commercial software development experience.
 Commercial software development experience in the retail industry is an advantage.
 Working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Platform and Microsoft Office applications.
 Technical knowledge of the software development environment tools and programming languages used at Retail Directions.
